成都博物館是成都市規模最大的綜合型博物館，已有五十余年的歷史。1958年，成都市地志博物館籌備委員會成立； 1974年，成都市文物管理處建立；1982年，成都市整合相關文物管理機構組建成都市博物館， 館址在成都市東風路大慈寺，1984年正式對外開放；2009年，成都博物館新館奠基；2016年6月，成都博物館新館建成并開放。 成都博物館位于成都市天府廣場西側，毗鄰四川省圖書館、四川美術館、四川科技館，占地面積約17畝，總建筑面積65000平方米，內部空間劃分為公共活動 區、展陳區、文物庫區、辦公區等。主體建筑分為南樓和北樓：南樓地上主要為行政區，地下為學術報告廳（多功能廳）；北樓主要為展示區，首層為大廳、放映 廳、一號臨展廳，地下一層為二、三號臨展廳，地上二層至三層為成都歷史文化陳列古代篇，四層為近世篇和民俗篇，五層為中國皮影木偶展，總展陳面積 14000平方米，展線長度1500米。
Chengdu Museum is the largest comprehensive museum in Chengdu with a history of more than 50 years. In 1958, the Preparatory Committee of Chengdu Local Records Museum was established; in 1974, the Chengdu Municipal Cultural Relics Management Office was established; in 1982, Chengdu integrated relevant cultural relics management institutions to establish the Chengdu Museum, which was located in Daci Temple, Dongfeng Road, Chengdu, and officially opened to the public in 1984; in 2009, the foundation of the new Chengdu Museum was laid; in June 2016, the new Chengdu Museum was completed and opened. Chengdu Museum is located on the west side of Tianfu Square in Chengdu, adjacent to Sichuan Provincial Library, Sichuan Art Museum and Sichuan Science and Technology Museum. It covers an area of about 17 mu, with a total construction area of 65000 square meters. The internal space is divided into public activity area, exhibition area, cultural relics reservoir area, office area, etc. The main building is divided into South Building and North Building: the south building is mainly the administrative area on the ground, and the academic lecture hall (multifunctional hall) is underground; the north building is mainly the exhibition area, and the first floor is the hall and projection Hall and No.1 temporary exhibition hall. The first floor underground is temporary exhibition hall No.2 and No.3. The second floor to the third floor above the ground is the ancient chapter of Chengdu history and culture exhibition, the fourth floor is the modern and folk art chapter, and the fifth floor is the Chinese shadow puppet exhibition, with a total exhibition area of 14000 square meters and the exhibition line length of 1500 meters.
